Discover the Elegance of the Baltic Heures du Monde Collection: A Timepiece to Savor
In a recent episode of Fratello Talks titled “The Microbrands To Watch In 2026,” we couldn’t help but spotlight Baltic. Founded by Etienne Malec a decade ago, the brand made waves with its first watch just a year later. With an anniversary approaching, we can only anticipate a grand celebration. However, it seems Etienne doesn’t need a special occasion to unveil remarkable new watches. The latest addition, the MR Moissanite, features a dazzling bezel adorned with baguette-cut stones, signaling that the party is just getting started! Enter the all-new Heures du Monde collection—three stunning worldtimers crafted with enchanting dials made from labradorite, tiger eye, and sodalite.
Why Baltic Has Captured Our Hearts
Over the past decade, Baltic has solidified its reputation with stylish, affordable, and vintage-inspired timepieces. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t captivated by the charm of these finely crafted watches. So, let’s dive into what makes the Heures du Monde collection so exciting.
Understanding the Baltic Heures du Monde Collection
Let’s break down the dimensions of the Heures du Monde. The predominantly brushed stainless steel case boasts a 36mm diameter, 45mm lug-to-lug length, and a thickness of 11.3mm, complete with a double-domed sapphire crystal. Initially, I thought it was similar to the MR case, but the latter has a slightly shorter lug span. Notably, the signed crown, located at 3 o’clock, stands out without any protective features other than the overhanging bezel.
The collection features a unidirectional bezel with a larger 37mm diameter, a clever move seen in Etienne’s dive watches. This design choice allows for a compact case while also making the bezels easier to grip and read. Each Heures du Monde piece features a brushed black ceramic insert adorned with world cities, all illuminated in blue-glowing Super-LumiNova.
Choose Your Stone: The Dials that Dazzle
Stone dials are certainly in vogue, and Baltic has hit the mark with the Heures du Monde. You can opt for a labradorite, tiger eye, or sodalite dial. The labradorite captures a slate blue-gray color that dances with light, while the tiger eye presents a striking mix of brown and orange hues. The sodalite version, a brighter blue, promises vibrancy. Although I haven’t seen the sodalite in person, I can confidently say that the labradorite dial is my top pick. Its classy aesthetic and versatility make it easy to pair with various outfits and straps.
Each stone dial showcases printed hour markers, a Baltic logo, and the watch’s name. An arrow at 6 o’clock indicates the city corresponding to the time displayed, while a bidirectional 24-hour ring surrounds the dial, indicating day or night in different parts of the world. The day color in this ring is matched to the dial’s stone, creating a cohesive and elegant design.
For added convenience, the beveled sword hands, hour markers, 24-hour ring, and bezel are all luminized, making it easy to read the time in low-light conditions.
The Soul of the Watch: Soprod C125 Movement
Powering the Baltic Heures du Monde is the Swiss-made Soprod C125 movement, renowned for its caller-style GMT capability. However, in this setup, it’s not overtly apparent that it’s a GMT watch, primarily because there’s no date feature. While some might miss the date, this decision helps maintain a balanced and aesthetically pleasing dial layout.
This automatic movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, features 25 jewels, and comes with a solid 42-hour power reserve. The stainless steel case back is secured to the mid-case with four screws and showcases a depiction of a globe, indicating the watch’s impressive 100m water resistance. For the initial launch, Baltic will produce only 200 pieces for each dial version, ensuring exclusive ownership before the model joins their standard collection.
A Versatile Watch for Every Occasion
Worn on the wrist, the Baltic Heures du Monde strikes an elegant balance between a dress watch and a functional tool. Its dimensions, combined with the luxurious stone dials, lend a sophisticated feel, while the bezel and 24-hour ring add essential functionality. Plus, its 100m water resistance ensures durability. As with all Baltic timepieces, every detail harmonizes impeccably.
Of course, each watch boasts a unique look due to the nature of the stone dials. Based on my observations, the labradorite version is the standout. Its light-catching qualities are reminiscent of mother-of-pearl, and the grayish-blue hue is incredibly versatile. While the tiger eye piece we had in the office leaned slightly too orange for my taste, it allows for individuality. The sodalite model, although untested by me, promises to be just as refreshing with its vibrant blue contrasts.
Get Your Hands on This Exclusive Collection!
In launching this exciting line, Baltic will offer 200 numbered pieces for each dial of the Heures du Monde collection. After this limited release, the models will move into the regular collection, sans serial numbers. Each watch is priced at €1,300 with a matching calfskin strap; opt for a flat-link or beads-of-rice bracelet, and the price rises to €1,360. Given the worldtimer complication, beautiful stone dials, and stylish ceramic bezel insert, this price point represents fantastic value!
