BMW Price Increases for 2026: What to Expect
Attention all BMW enthusiasts! If you’ve been eyeing a new BMW M5 sedan or wagon, now is the time to act. Next month, BMW is set to raise prices on select models, including the M5 and M5 Touring, by $2,400. This means the M5 sedan will start at an eye-watering $121,900, excluding destination and gas guzzler fees, while the M5 Touring will begin at $123,900.
Breaking Down the Price Increase
As reported by Cars Direct, this $2,400 hike represents a 2.0 percent increase for the year 2025. When you factor in the destination charge of $1,175 and a gas guzzler tax of $2,600, the total cost for the 2026 M5 sedan will come to $125,675, while the M5 Touring will reach $127,675.

Interestingly, the M5 isn’t even receiving the highest price increase. The prices for the X5 M and X6 M Competition models are rising by $2,500, while models like the Z4 will see an increase of $1,000. We hope these price hikes won’t dampen the excitement for the M5 Touring!
Why M5 Touring Sales Are Crucial
The release of the 2025 M5 Touring marks an important milestone, as it is the first performance wagon offered by BMW in the United States. This also plays a critical role in determining whether BMW will bring the highly anticipated M3 Touring to our shores, as these sales figures will be closely monitored. So far, demand has far exceeded expectations!

Earlier this year, BMW announced an increase in M5 production to satisfy the overwhelming demand. Interestingly, production is split evenly between the sedan and the touring model, contrary to BMW’s initial expectations that the sedan would make up two-thirds of total production. This shows just how popular the M5 Touring is, even in the U.S.
Recently, BMW M’s boss, Frank van Meel, noted in an interview that there’s a “higher demand in the U.S. for the Touring than for the sedan.” This data might be compelling enough for BMW to consider bringing the M3 Touring to the American market, a possibility that has been discussed since last year.
