Discover the Echo/Neutra Rivanera + seconde/seconde/: A Unique Limited Edition Watch
If you enjoy seeing creative twists on popular watches, you’re in for a treat! Renowned designer Romaric André has once again teamed up with Echo/Neutra to deliver a whimsical reinterpretation of their beloved Rivanera dress watch. As always, André’s inventive spirit shines through, and this latest release might just be his best yet. The concept? A delightful play where the Rivanera meets seconde/seconde/ and the echo is charmingly neutralized.
Unpacking the Creativity Behind the Echo/Neutra Rivanera + seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition
At first glance, the new Rivanera + seconde/seconde/ grabbed my attention with its striking blue dial featuring a charming hobnail pattern. But as I delved deeper into the concept behind the design, my appreciation grew even more. André’s vision was straightforward yet clever: “To make it iconic, I made it anechoic.”
For those unfamiliar, an anechoic chamber is a space specially designed to absorb sound reflections and cancel echoes. This fascinating idea has been playfully woven into the design of the watch, reflecting the playful nature of the brand’s name.
Anechoic chambers are essential in the testing of audio devices, and their design—often featuring wedge-shaped acoustic foam—has inspired the watch’s dial. What might initially appear as a conventional hobnail pattern actually tells a delightful story, adding depth to a sophisticated design.
Key Features of the Echo/Neutra Rivanera + seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition
This collaboration features the original version of the Echo/Neutra Rivanera, which impressed the Fratello team as a modern twist on a classic dress watch. I had the pleasure of reviewing the early models and even added the gray-dial version to my collection. This watch holds a special place in my rotation, perfect for those memorable occasions.
Check out my review of the first two Rivanera models here. When I received the press release about this latest collaboration with seconde/seconde/, my curiosity piqued immediately. The standard Rivanera boasts a 27 × 40 × 5.9mm Grade 5 titanium case that retains its sandblasted finish and polished edges, making it lightweight while still striking.
A Dial That Tells a Story
The main highlight is undoubtedly the new dial. It boasts a vibrant blue hue with a hobnail pattern inspired by the acoustic foam of anechoic chambers. At 12 o’clock, you’ll find the Echo/Neutra logo, stylishly crossed out by a light blue line—symbolizing the echo-canceling design.
At 6 o’clock sits a beautifully detailed small seconds sub-dial, featuring a polished dark gray ring that gracefully holds the 60-second scale. The hand gracefully complements the main hour and minute hands, reflecting the watch’s overall elegance.
All three hands harmonize beautifully with the polished chamfers of the case, adding visual appeal and standing out against the serene blue backdrop. This stylish new dial provides a refreshing contrast to the standard models. The watch comes with a blue alligator-style calf leather strap and a gray suede strap, both featuring a branded Grade 5 titanium buckle—allowing you to easily switch up your style.
