Discover the Bold Elegance of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon
Vacheron Constantin has just unveiled its stunning new Overseas Tourbillon model, featuring a mesmerizing deep red sunburst dial that truly captivates. The 6 o’clock aperture offers an unobstructed view of the intricately designed tourbillon regulator, while the 22K gold peripheral rotor allows for an enchanting glimpse of the movement through the sapphire case back.
This model marks the third edition of the Overseas Tourbillon crafted in a Grade 5 titanium case, following the striking openworked dial of the 2022 edition and the elegant lacquered blue dial seen in 2024. As we eagerly await updates every two years, Vacheron has now introduced this rich, deep red dial with delightful light blue accents. The case dimensions remain at a comfortable 42.5 × 10.39mm, ensuring that the Overseas maintains its blend of lightness and robustness.
High-Quality Craftsmanship in Titanium
Titanium might not be the first material that comes to mind when you think of Vacheron Constantin, a brand synonymous with luxury and precision. However, Vacheron’s journey with titanium began in 2009, evolving into iconic pieces like the Overseas Dual Time Everest in 2019. This breathtaking prototype accompanied American mountaineer Cory Richards on his ascent of Mount Everest, later fetching US$106,250 at auction for the National Geographic Society. The anticipation only grew until Vacheron released a limited production version two years later.
Exquisite Design Features
The Overseas Tourbillon may not be as rugged as the Everest edition, but the Grade 5 titanium imparts a delightful lightness. Vacheron’s attention to detail is evident in the immaculate finishing of the angular facets and surfaces on the case and bracelet. The bracelet features polished inner angles and vertical satin brushing on the top, with similar treatments extending to the case, boasting a Maltese-cross-inspired bezel and sandblasted areas between the cross’s six arms. The titanium’s muted gray tones hint at its strength, which is about 30% greater than stainless steel while being half the weight.
At the heart of this luxurious watch is the deep red dial, featuring an opening for the tourbillon cage positioned at 6 o’clock. The singular black screw with an arrow tip acts as the running seconds indicator for the 60-second tourbillon’s Maltese-cross-shaped cage. This unique combination of sporty design elements and traditional craftsmanship showcases Vacheron’s rich history in horology. The tourbillon caliber 2160 retains a slim profile at just 5.65mm thick, boasting an impressive 80-hour power reserve compared to 60 hours in the time-and-date models. Though the case is a tad wider at 42.5mm than those 41mm models, the peripheral 22K gold rotor ensures an unobstructed view of the tourbillon mechanism.
