This year is a landmark moment for Orient Star as the iconic Japanese watch brand celebrates its 75th anniversary! To mark this special occasion, Orient Star has curated a series of limited-edition releases that reflect its commitment to heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation. Among these, the Orient Star M34 F8 Date with a stunning meteorite dial is a true standout, limited to just 255 pieces worldwide. This model features the rare Muonionalusta meteorite, formed over millions of years, and signifies Orient Star’s first venture into meteorite dials!
Introducing the Orient Star M34 F8 Date Meteorite Dial
Part of the Contemporary Collection, the M34 F8 Date draws its inspiration from the Perseid meteor shower—an earlier M34 model even referenced this cosmic event. Launched in 2024, the collection began with a captivating blue-dial version, followed by a green edition in 2025. The 160-piece limited edition RE-BX0009B brilliantly captured the essence of a meteor shower through multilayered technology, featuring nanometer-sized metal particles for a dramatic effect.
The new M34 F8 Date creates a breathtaking visual reminiscent of the “jump to lightspeed” scene from Star Wars, even enchanting those unfamiliar with the Perseid meteor shower.
The Joints of Celestial Beauty and Technical Precision
Building on the earlier edition, Orient Star has truly raised the bar for its 75th anniversary with the M34 F8 Date. Using meteorite—one of nature’s most extraordinary materials—stands as a heartfelt homage to the cosmic wonders above. The M34 name itself is derived from Messier 34, a star cluster within the Perseus constellation, adding to the celestial theme. Crafted from the Muonionalusta iron meteorite, the watch showcases a unique geometric Widmanstätten pattern that forms during millions of years of cooling in space, which ensures that no two dials are alike. To preserve this exquisite pattern, Orient Star applies a thin silver vapor-deposited coating for corrosion resistance.
The dial features a date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator beneath the Roman numerals at 12. A 40 × 12.9mm 316L stainless steel case houses the automatic in-house F8N64 caliber, which can be admired through the sapphire display on the case back. This caliber includes a silicon escape wheel, a 60-hour power reserve, and boasts accuracy ranging from +15 to -5 seconds per day. With a sporty 20mm steel bracelet and a trifold deployant clasp, this watch is as suitable for daily wear as it is striking in design. The Orient Star M34 F8 Date Meteorite is priced at €3,249.99 / £2,824.99 and will be available this March as a limited run of 255 pieces.
Final Thoughts on the Orient Star M34 F8 Date Meteorite
The 75th anniversary of Orient Star is truly a moment to celebrate. The brand consistently pushes the boundaries of design and technology, having introduced an in-house silicon escape wheel in 2021. Furthermore, it continues to innovate in dial designs with the support of Seiko Epson’s printing expertise. However, one area that could see improvement is accuracy tolerance. While Japanese brands typically keep their performance specs conservative, a higher accuracy level would better justify the soaring prices on exclusive models like this stunning meteorite edition.
Looking forward, Orient Star has more exciting releases planned for its 75th anniversary. For now, the M34 F8 Date Meteorite is a must-see. For additional details, check out the Orient Star website.
